As a slave, the NA9186 fieldbus node establishes the connection between the FnIO system and the ErherCAT fieldbus. The I/O modules used are automatically recognized and the fieldbus node creates a local process image. The internal process image of the NA9186 fieldbus node is stored in the memory of the relevant controller via the EtherCAT fieldbus. By dividing the process image into an input and output data area, the process data is read in via EtherCAT, processed further in a controller and the process output data is output via EtherCAT. The automatically generated process image is created in the order of the expansion modules in their slots.
